1993- as a business college project.

Yes, we cater to local surfers on their way to the beach

Who is your average buyer?

Local hard core surfer

If a total Barney walks in do you treat him with the same respect as a full on loc?

Yes, we treat everyone the same unless they are rude. Some people think they can fake it but it’s obvious if they don’t know what they are talking about. Don’t act like you know everything, we don’t either.

What is the dumbest question a customer has ever asked?

Our shop has sand on the floor so we get lots of silly comments and questions about it.

Do you have a mascot (ex. - An animal that roams freely throughout the building)?

Yes, our prehistoric cromag fish –“Never mind the dog- beware of the fish”

What is the craziest return a customer has ever tried to make?

A customer claimed that the color of his board changed due to a ding repair and even filed a civil lawsuit against our shop.

Does your store support any local surfers or have a surf team?

Yes, we sponsor several local surfers and groms.

What is your most annoying grom story?

We get lots of sponsorship requests from groms that can barely catch a wave but think they deserve to get paid to surf.

Have you ever had any type of celeb roll in and make a purchase?

Yes, plenty, including setting up Pearl Jam band members with C4 Waterman Stand Up boards and Troy Polamalu (NFL) with an Aipa board.

Have you ever pulled a hot chick/guy solely due to the fact that you own/manage a surf shop?

No comment, I’m married.

How many days a week do you surf now compared to before you owned/managed a surf shop?

Probably less but I get to try all the new equipment and try to get out as much as possible.

Who is your favorite surfer and why?

Kelly Slater, he makes it look so easy

Has a customer trying on clothes ever walked out completely naked?

Not yet.

Has a person ever walked in totally blitzkrieged (really intoxicated) and tried to make a purchase? If so elaborate.

Yes, we get intoxicated guys that come in and talk about how great they are in the water- very annoying.

Every store has to deal with shoplifting. What is your most memorable experience and what is your shoplifting policy?

A guy pulled a shirt off the rack and stuck it into his baseball cap behind the rack while he was talking to me . I noticed the bulging cap and confronted him.

And last but not least tell us one of the craziest shop stories you can remember?

One of our female employees reported a guy jacking off in the changing room, funny story.
